Palm Springs Mid-Century Modern

Dann Foley Palm Springs Build Event

Dann Foley’s Mid-Century Makeover partnering with BUILD.com

This was a great, quick project that was done start to finish in about three weeks. The concept was a Summer Refresh for a house I have worked on for sometime with the owner.  This is a Wexler design in the Mid-Century Modern style so we wanted to honor that style while highlighting the owners pieces and today’s feel.  Updates included vanities in each bathroom, painting and/or wall paper, lighting and a mix of the owners personal affects with some new furnishings. The owner was delighted and we had a great time working with Build.com and their team to ensure all the products we needed were the best and that they would arrive on time.

You’ll notice in some of the rooms there is an accent wall. In the master bedroom, I used a natural fiber wall paper behind the bed to give some visual texture. In the guest room, the pop of green brightens the incoming light and feels both modern and refreshing.

Palm Springs indoor/outdoor lifestyle meant window treatments should be easy and clean. Each room has sliding glass doors to the back yard, so the new coverings don’t impede the flow or the view.

The trick to furniture selection and placement is to play with scale to maximize the room physically and visually. This is found in the mix of fabrics, color, accents, lighting and personal items that make it a home. This house is about living with the expansive openness of Wexler’s design, as well as enjoying the gorgeous Palm Springs views from every room of the home.

Palm Springs is all about indoor/OUTDOOR living. The design approach to the front of the house was to utilize a mix of low water, drought friendly plants and clean lines to enhance the Wexler home. We updated parts of the backyard with furnishings, accents and a shade cloth awning to create a variety of spaces for the owner to relax and for friends to gather. The owner has hosted several large scale events in the past with over 100 people in attendance, so it was important to create gathering spaces around the pool where guests can relax and connect.
